IPL specialist dry eyes treatment

Optilight IPL Treatment

by Lumenis is the Rolls Royce of dry eye IPL.
  • Proven to reduce symptoms of dry eyes
  • Proven to reduce ocular staining (signs of damage)
  • Proven to increase tear film stability
  • Proven to reduce use of artificial tears

IPL treatment is a powerful treatment for meibomian gland dysfunction and evaporative dry eye disease.  Optilight IPL increases the melting temperature of oils in the glands and reduces certain inflammatory cytokines (signalling proteins) that are responsible for the continuous cycle of dry eye disease.

Intraductal Probing

Release pressure and obstructions within Meibomian glands
  • Gland obstruction is one of the main causes of MGD and dry eyes
  • Probing is recommended for patients with MGD where IPL has not been effective
  • Treatment takes 1-2 hours
  • Re-treatment may be required 6-12 months

Intraductal probing is advised when tests such as meibography confirm the presence of some glands but there is little or no release of gland secretions.  Probing is generally performed on upper and lower lids.

dry eyes zest zocular blephex

Zest & Blephex

Deep cleansing treatment for your eyelids
  • A deep clean for eyelids and lashes
  • Reduces demodex mites
  • Removes crusting due to blepharitis
  • Recommended annually

The function of the eyelids is to protect the eyeball, spread tears over the ocular surface and prevent dust and debris from entering the eye.  Over time, debris, makeup and ocular secretions accumulate on the eyelids and lashes.  This causes proliferation of bacteria and even mites (known as demodex).  At-home lid cleansing is advisable for everyone but specialist dry eye treatment called zest or blephex at least once a year results in a significant reduction in debris and an improvement in symptoms.

IPL treatment

VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED I firstly wish to pass on my most grateful thanks to Dr Trusit Dave for the professional advice, reassurance, and treatment he has provided. I had experienced ongoing problems with one of my eyes in particular over the past few years. Numerous visits to my local GP and local eye clinics they recommended and still there was nobody that appeared to have any specialist knowledge whatsoever regarding eye conditions. Having suffered for a few years and having spent hours online trying to find out what was wrong with my eye, I eventually came across Dr Trusit Dave and Eyetech. It was such a relief to attend a consultation and have my eye condition analysed with the use of highly specialised knowledge and the latest in technology. I was diagnosed with Meibomian Gland Dysfunction and was advised that a course of IPL treatment may assist my condition. It is a couple of weeks now since I attended the last of four treatments, each two weeks apart. The improvement has been gradual further to each session and most markedly improved after the fourth and final session. I understand that I may require future similar treatments, but in the meantime I can honestly say that the condition and comfort of my eyes is significantly better and I am so grateful and relieved to not be consumed on a daily basis by the discomfort of my eye. The treatment is expensive, but then again you cannot put a price on your eyes and therefore if you are able to fund the treatment I would recommend it as an excellent investment. I appreciate all patients will have differing conditions and respond differently to treatment, however I am happy to report that the IPL treatment does appear to have improved my condition greatly and I have no hesitation in recommending the services of Dr Trusit Dave and his staff. Thank you again.

MGD, Dry Eye Disease

Dr Dave has been invaluable in my battle against MGD/Dry Eye Disease. He is a peer of world experts in the industry and has a patient, knowledgeable and kind approach to his practice. He talked me through treatments to keep me comfortable but this also allowed me to seek out advice and specialist knowledge.

Dr Dave worked on my eyes which I thought were past the point of no return and gave me measurable results. I arrived feeling very low due to the impact that MGD was having on my quality of life and he helped me find moments of laughter whilst facing this difficult disease. He also managed my expectations with honesty and tact.

There have been many moments in which it has been clear that Dr Dave was acting wholly in my best interests and where he has saved me money, time or false hope where others may have been looking to increase their profits.

I would also wholeheartedly recommend Eyetech in general. All of the other staff I have interacted with have been really friendly and accommodating. I have grown to look forward to my trips to Coventry for treatment and will continue travelling there for maintenance.

Demodex treatment

After 4 months of being misdiagnosed, endless internet research and trial and error trying to figure out why I have dry eye and a recurring corneal abrasion… today I had my first consultation with Dr Dave… He is the only optometrist I have met who seems to understand Demodex Blepharitis and not just dismiss it as “eyelid dandruff” and fob you off with warm compresses. I was with him for 2 hours and was massively impressed with the level of detail he goes into with diagnostics, I even came away with a video shot through a microscope of the little demodex mites that were infesting my eye lashes. (you can literally see their little feet moving!) As someone who’s a bit nervous around health professionals due to being misdiagnosed in the past, Dr Dave demonstrates an extremely impressive level of competency which instantly reassured me. He also has a very informative and reassuring mannerism when dealing with me which really helped put my mind at rest. I was then expecting to be sent away with treatment options and an appointment for the next few weeks…. nope… treated there and then! So, hour 2 Dr Dave debrided my eyelids and treated me with something called ‘Zest’, which I’ve seen from my own prior research to be one of the best treatments for Demodex. The results seem to have been instantaneous. During the 1 hour drive to the clinic, my left eye was very dry and stinging… during the journey back… nothing, it was like I had new eyelids that work properly! I’m actually quite shocked how effective the treatment has been, especially after months of anxiety trying to get to the bottom of this condition. I’m booked in for a follow up in 3 months as it seems I do have a quite severe case of these little eye mites and Dr Dave advised me I will likely need to be treated again, and then once every 6 months. But after my experience today, I’m more than happy to come back to keep my eyes in top condition. I’ve also referred my partner who will be paying a visit for her dry eye condition too. Very, very, very impressed and thank you for seeing me today! If you have dry eye I would HIGHLY recommend booking in here as most other eye specialists don’t seem to possess the necessary knowledge to treat this condition properly.
